Performs administrative tasks pertaining to the servicing of student loans. These duties could include

purchasing loans, filing claims with guarantor, curing rejected claims, repurchasing/rehabbing accounts,

originating loans, working SSCR reports, working Lender Manifest, loan servicing, borrower

correspondence, note review, consolidation payoffs and various other administrative duties to service

student loans.

  • Services student loan accounts and includes review of borrower status reports received from school,
  • guarantors, or other official sources and processes any appropriate changes to borrower accounts.
  • Maintains current knowledge of procedures and policies for assigned duties. Suggests procedure change
  • requests.
  •  Requests or suggests software solutions such as spreadsheets. Makes recommendations for technical
  • enhancements or solutions. Requests queries and reports that would enhance workflow. Recognizes
  • system errors and identifies to supervisor/manager.
  •  Basic understanding of SLSS and imaging and how various transactions affect these systems.
  •  May use external web sites such as NSLDS, Clearinghouse, E-Oscar, or a guarantor site.
  •  High level of accuracy, dependability, documentation and quality are expectations of this level.
  •  Demonstrated regular attendance is an expectation of this job level.
  • Recognizes problems with borrowers’ accounts that occur on a regular basis.
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned.
  •  Backs up maybe one other closely related function within Loan Administration in a limited capacity.
  • May provide training on certain functions in your area.
  •  Performs testing of certain system changes related to your area of expertise.
  • Meets deadlines for various functions assigned.
  •  Works under general supervision of supervisory staff and may interact with internal and sometimes
  • external clients.

Job Requirements

A minimum of 18 years of age

High School graduate or equivalent

Three years of office administrative/customer service experience or one year of student loan experience

One to two years of word-processing, email, spreadsheet, database experience.

Detail Oriented

Good mathematical skills.
